Stories
Below, I have compiled all of those pieces of fiction which a) I have written, b) have been published, and c) I still like. Links back to original publications are included in the stories. Click on a title to read the whole piece. (I think China is my favorite.)
- The One-Way Cave — An introverted teenager discovers a tunnel that will lead him into the wilderness, but won’t bring him back.
- Sometimes When You Fall — A screenplay about hunting bigfoot. This link goes to the MungBeing page for the published piece, since it’s not much fun to format screenplays for the web and they’ve already done a wonderful job.
- If the Gods Themselves are Ignorant — A god’s greatest and only power is to communicate with its followers. So, what happens if a god gives bad advice?
- Rejected — The Callow Gang meets up with a lonely old man who is tired of taking his meds.
- Last Name | part 1, part 2, part 3 — A novella in three parts about the few tenuous connections that hold us to family and friends.
- China — A kid, mourning for the death of his missionary brother, digs a hole right through the Earth.
- Goodbye, Grand Mother — The eventual, natural end of the world has far-reaching consequences.
- Bip Bop — A re-telling of the folk tale of the little tailor who killed seven at one blow.
- Singalong — A couple of days in the life of a fellow denied entry into the digital heaven.
- A Boy in a Corner with Chalk in His Eyes — If you can’t find your place in one world, you may as well try them all.
- Made it Way Up | part 1, part 2, part 3 — A novella in three parts about amateur rocketry, told from multiple points-of-view.
- Tradeup — Just one of those evenings that color the rest of your life.

- That Old Silk Hat — There must have been some magic in it.
- We Are Toys — How first contact might look if a little kid made it, and Steven Spielburg didn’t direct it.
- Hard Wonder — If emotions could be used as currency, which would become the most valuable?
- Shard Candy — <1000 words about how not to write fiction.
